Vartov — Privacy Policy

Vartov ("the app") is installed on your Shopify store to monitor your product catalog for changes that could affect your Google Merchant feed. This page explains what data the app accesses, what it stores, and why.

What we access

When you install Vartov, Shopify grants the app read-only access to your product catalog (the read_products scope). Vartov never requests access to customer data, orders, or payment information, and never modifies your store. Shopify also automatically grants every installed app access to the store owner's own contact details (name, email, phone, physical address) as part of its standard platform permissions; Vartov does not read, store, or use any of this.

What we store

• An access token for your store, so the app can check your catalog on a schedule without you needing to be logged in.
• A record of each background check: the time it ran, whether it succeeded, how many active products were found, and a one-way hash of the product ID list (used only to detect that the catalog changed — it cannot be reversed back into product data). Vartov does not display or use product titles, prices, or other product content for any purpose; in the rare case where a check fails because Shopify's own API returned a partial or malformed response, a short technical error note may be stored alongside that one failed check, and in unusual cases such a note could include a fragment of the data Shopify returned. It is never shown to you or anyone else and is deleted along with the rest of your check history as described below.
• If you choose to connect a Google Merchant Center account (optional, so Vartov can also record Google's approval status for your catalog), we store the resulting access token and your Merchant Center account ID the same way as the Shopify token above. Roughly once an hour, we also store the approved/pending/disapproved product counts Google reports for your account, and up to 10 of the most common reasons Google gives for a product not being approved (for example "product page unavailable"), each with how many products it affects. This is aggregate, account-level information about approval status and reasons — it is never a list of your individual products, and we do not store which specific products are affected.

We do not store any data about your customers. We do not use cookies, browser storage, or any tracking technology in the app.

Where your data is stored

Vartov stores and processes data on servers located in Ukraine. We do not store personal data of your customers — only your store domain, an access token, and the results of our own catalog checks, as described above.

How long we keep it

We keep the access token and check history for as long as the app is installed on your store. If you uninstall the app, we delete the access token immediately, and revoke and delete any connected Google account at the same time. Shopify also notifies us, on a delay, that your store's data should be erased (as required for all Shopify apps, whether or not they process personal data); if the app is still uninstalled at that point, we delete the stored check history for your store as well. If you reinstall before that notification arrives, we keep your check history running rather than erasing it out from under an active install — uninstalling again will still result in erasure once the notification comes through.

Who we share data with

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third party. Your catalog data is read directly from Shopify's API for the sole purpose of running the checks described above, and is not sent anywhere else.

Your rights

You can request access to or deletion of the data described above at any time by uninstalling the app, or by contacting us directly (see below).
